The Box Builder is currently behind a feature flag and will be available soon. This page describes the planned functionality.

Overview

The Box Builder lets administrators create custom AI Box templates tailored to your organization’s specific workflows. Instead of relying solely on marketplace templates, you can encode your own domain expertise into reusable automations.

What You Can Build

Custom Boxes that:
  • Connect to your team’s specific apps
  • Process data according to your business rules
  • Output results in your preferred format
  • Run on schedules that match your workflow

Building a Box Template

The Builder uses an accordion-based form with these sections:
1

Basic Info

Define the Box’s identity:
  • Name and description — What the Box does
  • Category — Business domain (Finance, Sales, etc.)
  • Version — Semantic versioning
  • Icon and color — Visual identity
  • Pricing — Free or credit cost per run
2

Connection Slots

Define what apps the Box needs:
  • MCP Server slots — For connected apps (Gmail, Slack, etc.)
  • Data Connection slots — For external data sources (RAG)
  • Mark slots as required or optional
3

Workflow Steps

Define the processing pipeline:
  • Each step has an action (extract, transform, validate, decide, output)
  • Steps execute in sequence
  • Configure inputs, outputs, and AI prompts for each step
4

Triggers

Configure how the Box runs:
  • Manual — User triggers runs
  • Scheduled — Cron-based automatic runs
  • Event — Triggered by webhooks
5

User Configuration

Define what end users can customize:
  • Configurable fields (text, dropdowns, toggles)
  • Filter options
  • Model selection preferences

Template Management

From the Builder landing page, you can:
ActionDescription
CreateStart a new template
EditModify an existing template
DuplicateCopy a template for modification
PublishMake visible to all organization members
UnpublishReturn to draft status
DeletePermanently remove a template
Templates can be saved as drafts (requires only a name) or published (requires name, description, and at least one workflow step).
